Strongly condemning attack on senior Peoples DemocraticParty (PDP) worker by unidentified gunmen in Pulwama on Monday, former Jammuand Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said taking up gun and attackinginnocent civilian will not help to resolve an issue that has dragged on since1947.

The PDP president Mehbooba said attacking political workerswho dedicate their lives to the cause of serving common masses is anunfortunate act.

Senior PDP worker Lateef Ahmad Shah was shot at and woundedby gunmen in Pulwama. He was immediately rushed to local hospital from where hewas referred to Srinagar in a critical condition.

Mehbooba who visited the SMHS hospital last night prayed forhis speedy recovery.

Taking to micro blogging site twitter Mehbooba said “Attacking political workers who dedicate their lives to the cause of servingcommon masses is an unfortunate act. We condemn in strongest possible termsattack on our senior worker Lateef Ah Shah from Mitrigam, Pulwama. We pray forhis speedy recovery.

She further said “Visited PDP worker Lateef Ahmed who wasshot at by unidentified gunmen today. Seeing his daughter break down was heartwrenching. How will attacking innocent civilians help resolve an issue that hasdragged on since 1947? Taking up the gun is no solution”.
